If you want to make currency and haven't pre-ordered to receive 100,000 VC off the bat, earning it may feel like a grind -- but you'll find myriad ways to achieve that. Playing in MyCareer as well as The Neighborhood will be the most effective way of MT 2K21 scoring VC, particularly in the event that you win and play nicely. Answering questions correctly during episodes of 2KTV, using your Daily Spin in Jeff's Arcade, making endorsements, and completing shooting challenges at MyCourt also see it. Persistence is the main way to bag VC without needing to devote real dosh.
I am GamesRadar+'s sports editor, obsessed with NFL, WWE, MLB -- and very sometimes things which don't possess a three-letter acronym. Notably: Bill Bryson, Pitch Perfect, and also the Streets Of Rage Collection. I've got two children who aren't really old enough to perform Madden yet. Shortly, thoug...
NBA 2K21 is officially available today, but I only got my entire review copy yesterday , so this review in progress will spill over into next week (following the Labor Day weekend). But I managed to devote a good number of hours yesterday, and in that time NBA 2K21 has made it crystal clear that it has claimed the franchise's record of stellar on-court gameplay. Most of the updates are relatively modest, like loose rebounds feeling and looking far more realistic, but they help add to an already solid foundation. The best part of NBA 2K21 so much is the controller tweaks, like the new aim meter, make for an all-new learning curve. Regrettably, updates to the surrounding game modes seem pretty barebones.
The aim-meter mechanic is really hard to master, but has already led to a really satisfying one-on-one isolation victories. It is nice having the ability to use the right stick exclusively as a dribbling tool till I am ready to pull back to get a shot. The ability to size-up, which is tied to special dribbling animations for many of the top players in the league, and isolate is far better than ever. I spent a couple of hours experimenting with various playstyles, like facilitating the pick-and-roll using Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis. It is tremendously rewarding to use Doncic's dimensions and footwork to make space - something that I could not replicate with other guards on the group, like Seth Curry. While it's not completely new, NBA 2K21's ability to emulate players' playstyles is exceptional this season.
Nevertheless, there are already a few frustrating gameplay issues I have come across, also. Fastbreaks seem marginally improved, but player spacing is still clearly off. For example, even my finest three-point shooters will monitor inside the three-point line on fast breaks when they would be better off finding space in the corner. Generally, it seems like NBA 2K21 hasn't completely adapted to the Cheap 2K21 MT emphasis modern NBA basketball has put on the three-point line. Quick catch-and-shoots aren't as common as they should be, and final out is still far too easy on defense.
